There have been many communications revolutions:
The printing press, the telegraph, the telephone, the radio, the television, the fax machine and now the Internet. Each revolution changed the face of the world we live in. Each successive wave of communication technology has taken less time to permeate the business landscape.
Think of it; the telephone, invented in 1876, took at least 70 years to become commonplace. The TV took about 25 years. In 1984 only 3% of business had FAX machines. By the year 1994, only ten years later, virtually all businesses had a fax machine. ![]() Now, we have the Internet... The Internet came into the common business consciousness in 1994. However, it is fast becoming the most widely used and rapidly adopted communications technology ever. If the trend holds true, it will only take a matter of a few years for this amazing communications medium to saturate our lives.
