Even though competing browsers offer slightly different interfaces, the most important features are common to all. Web browsers have a Menu Bar, a Tool Bar, a field for typing in a URL, a Content Area and a Status Bar.

Just as in any other windows application, the Menu Bar groups all functions of the software.

The URL window is where you can type in the URL of any site directly.

The Status Bar displays the the location of the highlighted link or the status of document dowloading.

On the Tool bar, the buttons act as short cuts to performing the following functions.

The BACK button returns you to the previous Web page                 displayed.

The FORWARD button moves you forward one page.

HOME returns you to the default home page or one that you                   have specified.

RELOAD or REFRESH loads the Web page again.                               Sometimes file transfers are interrupted and must be                             reloaded.

PRINT sends the current document to the printer for a hard                   copy.

The STOP button cancels any downloading in progress.
