The World Wide Web is often called WWW or just the Web. It is made up of all the servers on the Internet running Web server software.

Since its invention in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee, the Web has rapidly expanded to nearly replace other methods of finding and exchanging information on the Internet.

All Web documents have a unique address called a Universal Resource Locator or URL. It is used to help locate and display specific web pages.

The Web has been extremely popular due to its support of a graphical, point and click environment, and the availability of free server and client software.
